Hull Council

The Government’s Comprehensive Performance Assessment is evidence of the great strides Hull City Council has made since 2004 to provide good, value for money services. The assessment says: “Hull City Council is improving well... Improvements have been made this year across a range of priorities, including major reductions in crime and the fear of crime. Fewer children are absent or excluded from school and more young people are in education, employment and training. Improvements in social care for older people have led to more people living independently in their own homes. More waste is recycled. Sickness absence is reducing, and performance on equality and diversity has improved. Despite continuing improvement, some key services perform below the average. Improvements in educational attainment, housing, and health inequalities need to accelerate to close the gap with other councils. The council has further strengthened its capacity and partnership working. These are essential for the success of its ambitious transformation programme to deliver visible improvements in eight key areas over the next two years. These plans put the council in a good position to deliver on the significant challenges that they and their partners still face.” Full details at
